Some Key Milestones

One of the greatest years in his life, when he opened a one-stop eye care hospital in his hometown. Prasad Netralaya was no longer a small clinic, it had now become a super specialty eye hospital — with separate departments for each part of the eye.

Prasad Netralaya began to be known not only as an eye hospital but also as an institution with Fellowship Training Programs for Ophthalmic Postgraduate students.

As service was his passion, he began conducting full fledged eye camps under the Netra Jyothi Charitable Trust (NJCT).

An Eye Bank registered under EBAI was started for the first time at Prasad Netralaya to promote eye donation and treat patients suffering from corneal blindness.

The Eye bank at Prasad Netralaya began its awareness programs in association with Indian Red Cross society, and this received encouragement from the people of Udupi district.

ISO accreditation was given to Prasad Netralaya by Home Minister of Karnataka Dr V S Acharya in 2011, as providing quality service was our motto and passion.

Dr. P. Dayanand Pai donated an ambulance to Netrajyothi Charitable Trust (NJCT) as a support to the noble cause of ‘Vision for All’. Then, NJCT began to serve other districts as well with the help of this vehicle.

As the number of enquiries increased, a new center of Prasad Netralaya was inaugurated in Lalbagh, Mangalore.

ibeach Film Festival and Prasad Netralaya Conference in Goa was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramodh Sawanth and Honourable Ayush Minister Shri Shripad Naik.

Prasad Netralaya Udupi was pre-accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH).

Prasad Netralaya introduced Dry Eye Therapy with Italian technology to coastal Karnataka.

Prasad Netralaya Mangalore received full-fledged accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH)

In January 2021, Prasad Nethralaya was the first private eye care institution in coastal Karnataka that launched a vaccination drive. Over 1000+ people were immunised.
